Two University of Oregon basketball players are being suspended for a yet-to-be decided number of games for violating NCAA rules. This could put a damper on the season opener for the #19-ranked men's team.

The U of O Athletic Department announced Tuesday that Sophomores Dominic Artis  and Ben Carter would be suspended for an undetermined number of games for selling team-issued clothing.  NCAA rules state that each will have to donate the value of the apparel to charity.

As a freshman last season, Artis was a break-out point guard for the Ducks.  Carter came off the bench as a forward.

The University says it reported the violation to the NCAA and PAC-12.  In a statement, head Coach Dana Altman called the two, "good young men who made a poor decision."

An appeal for Carter and Artis' reinstatement is currently being considered by the NCAA. Neither player will travel for the Duck's season opener this Friday against Georgetown in the Armed Forces Classic in South Korea.
