With Hayward Field’s reconstruction less than a year out from completion, tickets for the 2020 Olympic trials have already sold at a record pace.

TrackTown USA CEO, Michael Reily, says the tickets for the trials sold so fast, they had to open up more sections.

“So the early news is very good and very exciting. Although we don’t have any concrete evidence, I think the anecdotal evidence is clear: the new Hayward Field is a big big attraction for everyone that wants to come to the best track and field meet in the United States,” says Reily.

Travel Lane County reports past trials have had about a 37-million dollar impact on the community.

Permanent capacity for the new field is 12-thousand five-hundred, but, with the addition of temporary seating, will be expandable to nearly 25-thousand.

The first competition to be held at the new Hayward Field will be the 2020 PAC-12 championships next May.
