Eugene is set to host a unique track event Saturday, at a secret location, and with an unusual format.
The “Return of The Dual” meet between Oregon Track Club Elite and Atlanta Track Club Elite runners features just 12 athletes in five events at two tracks.
TrackTown USA CEO Michael Reilly says one runner will race at a time, in each hometown. “I can’t disclose where the event is going to take place," says Reilly, "but I can confirm it will not be taking place at Hayward Field.”
Reilly says in order to be safe and follow COVID-19 protocol, the location will be a mystery until airtime, adding, “We’ve been able to partner with Arcimoto. They will be providing a vehicle that will help us film the races, giving people an opportunity to watch the athletes up close.”
The 4 p.m. show is free online. All donations benefit the Atlanta Mission and Food For Lane County. The Dual ends with a co-ed 400 meter relay. Each athlete runs a lap, waits for their teammate to complete a lap, and runs again.
