While many people complain of not knowing what day it is lately, Oregon high school sports are mixing up the seasons. Fall sports began their seasons Monday. That includes cross country, soccer and football, which the Oregon Health Authority cleared for competition just last week.
Three Eugene-area school districts: Springfield, Bethel and Eugene 4J will work together to host localized competitions.
The first games of the six-week season will be March 4th. Eugene 4J spokesperson Kerry Delf said no spectators are allowed, masks are to be worn at all times, and athletes should stay six feet apart when not engaged in competition. Delf said they're hopeful volleyball will also start soon, provided local COVID-19 metrics continue to improve.
Spring sports are scheduled to begin in April, and winter sports in May.
