After making it to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1982, Oregon State Men’s Basketball is out of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. The No.12 seeded Beavers fell 67-61 to No.2 Houston Monday in Indianapolis.
OSU was down 34-17 at the half, but was able to tie it up at 55 with less than 4 minutes to go. Houston went on a 12-6 run to take back the lead and finish on top.
While OSU (20-13) outshot Houston 46% to 32%, they could not overcome the rebounding deficit. The Cougars (28-3) out hustled the Beavers on the glass with 34 offensive rebounds to the Beavers’ 11.
Maurice Calloo had 13 points and Ethan Thompson finished with 11 for the Beavers.
The loss in the Regional Final capped a wild late-season run for the Beavers that saw them capture the Pac-12 Tournament Title for the first time in program history. That sent them to this year's NCAA Tournament where the No. 12 seeded Beavers upset teams seeded fifth, fourth, and eighth.
At the start of the season, OSU was picked to finish last in the Pac-12 conference.
