Olympic gold-medalist and University of Oregon alum English Gardner is preparing for the Olympic Track & Field trials in Eugene after recovering from COVID-19 this spring.

Sprinter English Gardner said after her illness she had a tough time working out. But, it was thanks to her coach, who changed up her training regimen that she’s ready to compete again.

“So, I feel confident going into the trials this week because I have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” Gardner said. “I’ve already beaten COVID. I feel like a conqueror. So, this week will definitely just make me more than a conqueror. So I’m super excited.”

This will be Gardner’s third time competing in the Olympic trials at Hayward.  She won the gold in the 4 by 100s at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
