Crowds at Sunday’s Olympic Track & Field Trials in Eugene got to see Rudy Winkler break an American record in the hammer throw. Winkler threw 82.71 meters, beating the previous record of 82.52 set by Lance Deal in 1996.
And, a familiar runner at Hayward Field, Allyson Felix made her 5th Olympic team in the women’s 400 meters. She said she was especially motivated because her young daughter was in the stands.
University of Oregon Duck Micah Williams made the finals in the men’s 100, but placed fifth, losing a chance at the Tokyo Olympics. Still, he made a school record with a time of 9.91 seconds.
