Eugene's usually sleepy airport is going to be bustling this week with Thanksgiving flyers coming and going.

The Eugene Airport is expecting 14,000 passengers arriving and departing its gates between Tuesday and Sunday. Spokesman Casey Boatman says the best way to make it go smoothly is to give yourself lots of time.

Boatman: "Well, definitely, don't be fooled by how fast our TSA security checkpoint usually is. Always, especially during busy times, allow 2 hours before your scheduled flight time. There can be other backups with an influx of travelers. So it's really important to be time conscious."

Boatman says checking-in online helps too. The busiest day at the airport is expected to be Sunday. AAA is projecting this year's Thanksgiving to have the highest volume of travelers since 2007-- with nearly 47 million Americans traveling 50 miles or more.
