The Lane County Fair opens Wednesday and continues through Sunday.
In the barns, chickens, ducks, and turkeys relax in climate-controlled buildings while people outside work to put the annual event together.
Rachel Bivens, assistant manager, says the fair is a celebration of all things summer.
“It’s a big community event. The intention is for everybody in Lane County from the coast all the way out to come back in and enjoy it for five days,” says Bivens. “Ride rides, eat all kinds of foods you wouldn’t normally eat, see so many different kinds of animals, exhibits, and vendors. I mean, we have a little bit of everything. Music, concerts, clowns, everything. So it’s just a bunch of fun is what it is.”
Bivens adds preparation for the fair lasts year-round and the final days leading up to the event are for finalizing everything and moving the animals in.

The country singer, Martina McBride, and the Little River Band are among the performers at the fair’s concert series.
