Governor Brown Hears From Eugene Businesswomen

Rachael McDonald

Oregon Governor Kate Brown met with Eugene businesswomen Friday. It’s part of a statewide tour to gather information for her Small Business Advisory Cabinet.

Governor Brown says small businesses are key to Oregon’s economic development. She says one of the big barriers for entrepreneurs is raising capital.
Brown: “There are clearly other issues that we need to tackle as well including mentorship and coaching and just finding someone to be able to ask questions and point them in the right direction so they can be successful.”
Celeste Edman is CEO of Lunar Logic in Eugene. She joined several other business women in conversation with the Governor. Edman says it’s challenging for women to fully advocate for themselves.
Edman: “It can be intimidating when you’re the only woman in your industry or when you’re part of a handful of women in your industry and it’s so much easier to believe you can do something when you can see someone else has already done it.”
The meeting took place at Red Wagon Creamery. Governor Brown picked up some chocolate ice cream to go before heading back to Salem.
