Eugene 4J School Superintendent Gustavo Balderas may be leaving. He’s being considered for the top post at Edmonds School District near Seattle.
Balderas has been the Eugene 4J Superintendent for nearly 5 years.
Last fall, Balderas was recognized as Oregon Superintendent of the Year, the first Latino to have that distinction. And, earlier this month he was named National Superintendent of the Year.
Balderas has been praised for raising graduation rates at the Eugene District. He also has made gains in diversity among 4j’s administration.
Balderas is one of two finalists for the position of superintendent at Edmonds District in Washington State.
