Educators working at community colleges want to be prioritized the same as pre-school and K-12 employees in the COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan. The Oregon Education Association is circulating a petition.
The petition asks Governor Kate Brown and the COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Task Force to add higher ed employees to the states’ “education priority groups” for vaccination.
Brown has moved to allow those education priority groups to begin receiving shots on January 25th.
Part of a letter attached to the petition reads: “With an aging population, small classrooms and little-to-no guidance on safety from the state, community college employees are both critical and high-risk employees."
