Eugene's White Bird Clinic To Expand Dental And Medical Services
For nearly 50 years, White Bird Clinic has helped under-served populations in and around Eugene with crisis counseling, medical and-- since 1995--dental programs. The need for this service has continued to grow, prompting the agency to expand in size and scope.
Last year, White Bird saw about 2,000 patients in their dental clinic. With the end of need nowhere in sight, the agency has acquired a new space with double the capacity. Miles Mabray is an Executive Coordinator for White Bird.
“We’ve always operated in a way that was very fiscally conservative and responsible,” Mabray says. “And because of that we’ve been able to save a fairly substantial amount of reserves for a rainy day. We found a building that is just perfect and so we jumped on it.”
The new property, on Pearl Street in downtown Eugene, will undergo renovations to transform it into a dental clinic with possible space for counseling and other support services. It is expected to be ready by next June. Meanwhile, White Bird will continue to serve medical and dental clients at their walk up clinic on Mill Street.
