Lane County Public Health has received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine.

Spokesperson Jason Davis said the 1,200 shots are already spoken for.

“Our first doses will go out to our Medicaid providers, those who serve our most at-risk populations in the community,” said Davis. “And congregate care providers—So things like our community health centers and jail staff and some other congregate care settings where we have folks working with a very diverse population.”

Davis said county and state health authorities are dependent upon vaccine supply while demand everywhere is high. He added it’s hard to predict when there will be enough to fully immunize the 26,000 health care providers working throughout Lane County.
