According to the Oregon Health Authority, 51,255 Oregonians have received a COVID-19 vaccine as of Tuesday. Nine of them have received two doses and are fully immunized.
Distribution of the vaccine will occur in phases. The initial phase, 1-A, includes health care personnel as well as residents of long-term care facilities. People in high-risk groups and essential workers will be vaccinated in the next phase, 1-B.
While it is a way down the road, Lane County Public Health officials are gearing up to vaccinate the general population. Spokesperson Jason Davis:
“We already have plans in place for the mass vaccination,” he said. “So these will be large scale, potentially drive through events where individuals will be able to quickly and efficiently receive their first dose of vaccine.”

Davis said Public Health will track the doses given and follow up. To date, 95 Lane County residents have died from the virus.
