The Secretary of State says, as of Monday, more than half of Oregonians who are eligible to vote in the Tuesday election have cast their ballots.
Secretary Jeanne Atkins says 1.29 million voters had turned in their ballots. She says that accounts for 50.3 % of total eligible voters.
Lane County Clerk Cheryl Betschart says ballot returns are on par with the 2008 presidential election.
“We have received over 139,360 ballots and that is a 56% turnout for Lane County, Betschart says, “And that is right in line with the patterns that we saw in 2008 when we last elected a brand-new president.”
Oregonians have until 8 o’clock Tuesday evening to turn in ballots to official county drop sites. At this point, it’s too late to mail in your ballot.
The state has a new website to check election returns.
