Oregon State Senator Manning Announces Re-Election Bid

Brian Bull

State Senator James Manning is running again.  The Eugene Democrat’s re-election campaign formally kicked off this weekend.

The Lane County Board of Commissioners chose Manning to serve the final two years of Chris Edwards’s term, after then-Senator Edwards resigned to take a job with the University of Oregon in 2016.

Manning says he’s anxious to continue his work on behalf of education, health care, and veterans.

“I oppose any and all efforts to privatize the VA, and I’m all in to make sure that they receive the quality care and all the other benefits that America promised them if they volunteered to put their lives on the line to protect our Constitution and our way of life.”

Manning served with the U.S. Army for 24 years.  He’s chair of the Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on General Government, and is also on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
