President Donald Trump stated via twitter Sunday that there will be no deal for DACA recipients in the United States. The Obama Administration started the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
It gives so-called dreamers the ability to remain in the U.S. without fear of deportation. Oregon Senator Ron Wyden says Trump has created uncertainty for the young people who came the United States as children.
“The president has been so interested in, in effect, holding these dreamers back, that he’s even willing to harm the economy, because dreamers make a really great contribution to the Oregon economy.”
Wyden says he’s still hopeful that a majority in Congress can pass an immigration deal, including a renewal of DACA.
