The Eugene City Council Monday approved its budget for Fiscal Year 2022. The $724 million dollar spending plan includes additional funding for homeless services and downtown safety.
The budget plan allocates an additional $750-thousand in one-time and ongoing funding for Homelessness services, and a $1.4 million boost for downtown safety and programming. The budget provides $125 thousand additional funds for CAHOOTS—Eugene’s mobile crisis response unit. CAHOOTS has asked the city for a larger portion of funds from the community safety initiative and the city council has indicated they’ll consider that request in the coming months.
The FY 22 budget goes into effect July 1.
