Oregon U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley, this week, filed to run for re-election. In a tweeted campaign announcement, Merkley said he wants to put America back on track.
“These have been a rough three years. We’ve seen court-packing. We’ve seen children in cages. We’ve seen the sabotage of health care. We’ve seen the evisceration of good-paying jobs for Americans. We have to take this on first by attacking the corruption that’s infested America.”
Merkley also wants to change the occupant of the White House as well as leadership in congress and the courts.
So far, he’s not facing any Democratic challengers in the May primary. The three Republicans running for Merkley's senate seat are JoRae Perkins, Paul Romero, and Robert Schwartz.
Tuesday, March 10th is Oregon’s deadline to file to run in the May Primary. The deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation is April 28th.
