Northwest Passage: GOP Walkout Continues in Salem, Wildfire Danger, and Planting Strips

Rachael McDonald

The Republican boycott of climate legislation continues in Salem. We get an update and analysis on the situation that has brought national attention to Oregon.

We also learn more about an ordinance in Eugene that would clarify rules around planting strips on sidewalks and give businesses tools to prevent people from loitering and camping on them. We also discuss a new study on climate change and how fire officials seek to educate the public on the dangers of wildfire. Join KLCC News Director Rachael McDonald, All Things Considered host Angela Kellner and reporters Tiffany Eckert and Chris Lehman for the Northwest Passage podcast.

Rachael McDonald is KLCC’s host for All Things Considered on weekday afternoons. She also is the editor of the KLCC Extra, the daily digital newspaper. Rachael has a BA in English from the University of Oregon. She started out in public radio as a newsroom volunteer at KLCC in 2000.
