Longtime Trump advisor and former executive chairman of Breitbart News, Steve Bannon, says he’s not guilty of swindling donors for the “We Build the Wall” campaign.

Oregon U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley says Bannon has already been a divisive figure in politics, which included supporting the policy of separating children from their parents at the U.S./Mexican border.

"But I really never imagined that he would play on another policy - the building of the wall on the border- to rip off ordinary Americans, to raise money to line his own pockets," Merkley told KLCC.

"Of course, it’s alleged right now, the court will have its process. But if this is true, it’s just one more reason he’s not on my list of my most favorite people.”

Merkley joined other Democratic lawmakers at a Eugene press conference today, calling for the restoration of the U.S. Postal Service.

Bannon was arrested by USPS agents on a giant yacht off the coast of Connecticut Thursday.  Three others were indicted.
