Spring. A time when many Oregonians’ thoughts turn to…fresh, locally-grown produce. And now a state organization says there’s an app for finding the grower closest to you, even while traveling. KLCC’s Brian Bull explains.
Chances are you already know where to find your local farmer’s market. But if you’re out and about away from your usual stomping grounds, what then?
Anne Marie Moss says the Oregon Farm Bureau has just the thing: Oregon’s Bounty.
“Which is a website that lists nearly 300 farms and ranches that sell their products directly to the public, either via farm stand, or U-Pick field, or an event,” says the group's spokeswoman.
Users can search by region, agricultural product, or facility. For instance, there are four farms offering onions in Southern Oregon. And seven U-pick blueberry sites in the Willamette Valley.
Moss says members of the Oregon Farm Bureau can get listed in Oregon’s Bounty by contacting her office.
