A new superintendent is coming to the Springfield School District.
Todd Hamilton begins July 1st. He is currently District Superintendent for Creswell Schools, a position he’s held for eight years.
Springfield Board Chair Zach Bessett says Hamilton has the right qualities with which to lead the district forward.
“You know, we’re on a great path," he tells KLCC. "We’ve increased our graduation rate by 10 percent in the past three years. We have a lot of great momentum.
"So really what we’re looking for, from him in this first year, is to make those meaningful connections. Somebody who can look you in the eye, shake your hand, and you believe that they’re going to do the best for the school district. I mean, on the basic terms, that’s what it is.”
The Springfield School Board will officially vote to approve Hamilton’s hire at its next meeting Monday (3/11). Hamilton succeeds interim superintendent Bruce Smolnisky.
