Congressman Peter DeFazio has harsh words for the white supremacists and neo-Nazis who rallied in Charlottesville this past weekend.

Speaking at a press event in Eugene, the Oregon Democrat said that the rally drew in people who were extremely anti-American.

“You know, we fought a war against Nazi Germany," says DeFazio.  "Many Americans died to preserve our liberties and to liberate Europe.

"And to have these clowns running around with their Nazi salutes and talking about how great Hitler was, who killed hundreds of thousands, millions of people in gas chambers and caused an incredibly destructive war…boy, are they out to lunch.”

President Trump condemned the event and white supremaciststoday.  DeFazio notes it was made two days after the violent rally, and that Trump seemed “pushed into it” by critics on both sides of the political aisle.

One woman was killed and many other people were injured when a pro-Nazi participant drove into a crowd of counterprotesters Saturday.
