Phil and Penny Knight previously gave $500 million donations to the University of Oregon in 2016 and in 2021. This gift is intended to build a new college on the campus those gifts established.

Phil and Penny Knight are pledging $1.1 billion to Providence to build Oregon's first hospital dedicated to women's health and fund cardiovascular research.
