World Athletics U-20 Championships

Incoming UO freshman Simon Rosselli set a U.S. U20 record with a 66.39-meter throw at Hayward Field to win gold in the men's discus.

The World Athletics Under-20 Track and Field Championships got underway at Hayward Field Wednesday morning, even as air quality was squarely in the “Unhealthy” range.

Eugene's Hayward Field is set to host the World Athletics U20 Championships in August, bringing 2,000 international track and field athletes and staff to Oregon.

The World Athletics Council has chosen Eugene to host its youth track-and-field championships at Hayward Field in 2026.
