For the first time since the Lane County Fair started in the 1800s, the annual event will not take place this year.
The announcement came Friday in response to Governor Kate Brown’s prohibition on large gatherings through September in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Rachael Bivens,
Lane Events Center Marketing manager says, while safety is a top priority, that doesn’t make it any less devastating to cancel an event that families look forward to every summer and many vendors depend on for income.
The Lane County Fair was scheduled to take place July 22 through 26 at the Lane Events Center in Eugene.
