4J To Vaccinate Staff Before Resuming In-Person Learning

Eugene 4J School District

The Eugene 4J school board unanimously voted Wednesday night to support the district’s efforts to begin hybrid learning. Some students could resume in-person school in mid-Mar.

The 4J school board and staff had a lengthy discussion about what the return to in-person learning would look like and when it could begin. At the end, school board member Judy Newman proposed an amended motion supporting the district’s developing reopening plan.

“I move that the board support the superintendent’s recommendation to reopen schools for hybrid instruction on a rolling basis as determined by the superintendent only after key 4J staff supporting the affected grade level have had the opportunity to be fully vaccinated, and two weeks to develop immunity,” said Newman.

According to 4J Chief of Staff Kerry Delf, hybrid learning is expected to resume for kindergarten and first graders on Mar 15.
