The Republican health care bill approved in the House of Representatives makes Planned Parenthood providers ineligible to participate in Medicaid. It’s expected the Senate version, now being crafted behind closed doors, will do the same.
This Wednesday night supporters will rally in support of Planned Parenthood clinics to “pink the night out”.
Kellie Devore is Director of Strategy and Business Initiatives with Planned Parenthood of Southwestern Oregon. She says statewide 60-thousand people rely on Planned Parenthood for basic health care each year.
“Everything from birth control to cancer screenings, to STI testing and treatment and well-care." Devore says, "This could have a huge impact on them and their ability to access care.”
Devore says rally participants will hold pink lights on the longest day of the year, Wednesday. The event begins at 8 p.m. at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Eugene.
