Last month, Looking Glass opened its newly remodeled Regional Crisis Center, which offers residential mental health treatment to vulnerable youth in Lane County.
The center provides 24-hour supervised group living and offers psychiatric and medical services, 24/7 nursing, and case management for people 12 to 18 years of age.
Craig Opperman, president and CEO of Looking Glass, says this facility is unique to Oregon because of their staff.
“It’s similar to other subacute facilities and similar to other psychiatric residential treatment centers,” says Opperman. “The difference is we have increased staffing and so I would say the staff training is comparable to what you would get at a hospital. The level of staffing ratios is higher.”
Opperman adds the center is currently housing 9 teens but he expects they’ll fill all 14 of their beds by the end of August.
