Lane County Public Health reports new COVID-19 cases have raised the overall count to 597. One of them is a staff person at Oaktree Residential Living in west Eugene.
The 15-bed residential facility arranged for testing of 29 staff and residents on Tuesday.
Owner and administrator Elman Babayev said the caregiver who tested positive for the coronavirus showed no symptoms or elevated temperature while at work. He explained the employee went to the hospital for an unrelated issue and over the weekend, was informed of a positive COVID-19 test result.

Babayev said nasal swab testing was underway at Oaktree and results are expected within 48 hours. He told KLCC he made personal calls to every resident’s family to inform them of the potential health threat saying, “We are really trying to keep everyone safe.”
