Brianna Bowman
Weekend Edition HostBrianna Bowman joined KLCC in August 2025 after a decade of working as a fisheries scientist in Alaska and New Zealand. She grew up in Oregon, mostly in Portland, but also lived in Pendleton and Bend as a kid. She completed her undergraduate degree in marine biology from Occidental College, and her master's degree in fisheries science from Alaska Pacific University. During her twenties she bounced around between California, New Zealand, Australia, and Alaska, and now calls Newport her forever home.
Brianna has always admired public radio, being a "back-seat listener" as a kid, and a "front-seat listener" as an adult. She enjoys listening to deep-dives into science from programs like Radiolab and Science Friday, and is excited to share stories about marine science and fisheries from the Oregon coast.
Brianna loves to walk her two retired sled dogs on the beach every day, surf the baby waves at Otter Rock in the summer, and sing with her local community choir.
