Jay Bozievich Will Seek Third Term On Lane County Board

Jay Bozievich announced today he’ll run for a third term as Lane County Commissioner in the May 15th 2018 primary election.

Bozievich represents Western Lane County in position 1 on the board. He says he’d like establish a permanent funding source for public safety although he’s proud of the jail funding measure that was recently renewed by voters.
“We’ve done a lot of great work to prioritize public safety.” Bozievich says, “And we’ve stabilized it. But it’s at a service level that’s really somewhat not acceptable when it gets to rural patrol and it’s also living off these levies that have to be renewed regularly.”
Bozievich says the county has adjusted to the loss of federal timber payments. But it means operating very efficiently. Bozievich says one of his priorities is helping people with mental illness and keeping them out of jail. He points to success with improving employment by bringing businesses including Winnebago and First Call Resolutions to the county. But he says the lack of available workforce housing in Lane County is another problem he’d like to address.
