Cost Estimate For New Eugene City Hall Coming Soon

City of Eugene

At a work session Monday, the Eugene City Council will hear an estimate of what a newCity Hall and Town Square will cost. They’ll also discuss how to pay for it.

The Town Square project is planned for the downtown park blocks and existing butterfly parking lot. It would include a new City Hall and permanent farmers market.

Josh Berman is the Town Square Analyst with the City of Eugene.

Berman: “This meeting on Monday will really just be about laying out potential funding sources for achieving the town square vision and then in April and May we’ll be able to have a more detailed conversation with council about whether to move forward with the projects or not.”

Berman says staff is in the midst of designing the City Hall. Council wants to meet Silver certification energy standards and build to a seismic level above life safety so City Hall could be repaired after an earthquake.
