The Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team reports their highest weekly case count since the pandemic. Officials have already seen 106 new cases, with two days still left in the week.
Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer says most of the cases are related to gatherings, travel and workplace and school outbreaks.
He notes it took months into the pandemic before Douglas county got to its first 40 cases. In contrast-- last weekend-- 46 new cases were counted in just two days.
Health officials urge stringent prevention practices to prevent further spread of the coronavirus in communities.
