Oregon is closing schools and banning mass gatherings, as concerns about the new coronavirus spread. Governor Kate Brown says schools will close statewide from March 16th through March 31st, due to staffing challenges and health concerns.

Springfield Public Schools said, “We understand that extended school closure will create hardship for many families.” That district will make to-go hot lunches available to students beginning Monday, at any school location from 11 am to 1 pm.

And, Eugene School District 4J said, “Schools provide vital support to our communities and this closure will have a major impact on our families.” 4-J says it’s finalizing plans to provide bagged to-go lunches at several of their sites and that details will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.
