National Weather Service meteorologist, Dave Elson, says temperatures could hit the triple digits in the Willamette Valley this week.

“We’re looking at some of the hottest days of the year coming up this week,” says Elson. “For the Eugene area, probably Tuesday is going to be the hottest day. We’re looking at temperatures pretty close to 100. Right now we’re looking at maybe 99 degrees for Eugene.”

Elson adds red flag warnings have been issued to caution people of fire danger. Several national forests in Southern Oregon have also changed their fire danger levels to “high,” meaning fires can start easily from most causes.
