The Track and Field World Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene will happen a little less than a year later than planned. Oregon21 has announced, along with a name change to Oregon22, the international track and field event will take place July 15th to 24th, 2022.
The track and field world body had to get creative to find a window that fit with competitions already on the calendar. Two multi-sport events that also include athletics, the Commonwealth Games and the European Championships, will follow Oregon22.
The World Athletics Championships will require qualifying trials in more than 200 participating countries. There’s no word yet on when or where the U.S. trials will be.
