Oregonians looking for an alternative to holiday shopping can try their luck at catching fish, clams or crabs for free this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26 and 27.
The state is waiving the license requirements for fishing, clamming and crabbing for the two days following Thanksgiving. The offer applies to both Oregon residents and nonresidents. All other regulations still apply, such as bag limits and size and location restrictions.
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says the promotion is part of the “Opt Outside” movement, which encourages people to get outdoors, regardless of the time of year.
And if catching a live water creature isn’t your thing, the Oregon State Parks Department is waiving the day-use parking fee on Friday at its 26 parks that charge it.
