The public is invited to celebrate Latino culture tonight at Springfield's Sprout! Regional Food Hub. The block party is being organized by the University of Oregon's Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Huerto de la Familia or the "Family Garden." Executive Director Sarah Cantril says a rising Latino Population is a large contribution to Oregon's economy.
Cantril: "And I think it's really important to come together and celebrate and to learn about people who are in our community, and have some cultural interaction between different people and experience different types of events and activities and just for everyone to enjoy themselves."
The party features a salsa cook off, live music, dance classes, and food throughout the day. Proceeds go to the Organic Garden Education Program. The Latino Block Party at Sprout! If from noon to midnight on A Street in downtown Springfield.
