Eugene Public Library Brings Back Some Services

Eugene Public Library

Two Eugene Public Library services suspended in March as part of pandemic safety measures have restarted this week.

To help with the ‘summer slide’ of academics, the library has a variety of activities in its Summer Reading program. A key feature of the program is handing out books for children and teens to keep. The books can be picked up Monday through Saturday from 11 to 5 pm at all three library branches.

Eugene Public Library has also partnered with FOOD for Lane County to hand out books at select summer meal sites.

According to Will O’Hearn, library services director, the program is so important, not even a pandemic can stop it.

“That’s a way that we can make sure that folks who may need some additional nourishment, some food, also get nourishment for their brain as well,” said O’Hearn.

Book returns have also expanded to now being accepted at outside book drops for all three library branches.

Downtown: Mon - Sat, 7 am to 5 pm

Bethel/Sheldon: Mon-Sat, 11 am to 5 pm

Books currently on loan are not due until mid-September, but early returns are encouraged.

Curbside pick-up appointments are still available. And patrons of all ages can still participate in Summer Reading activities through August. More information can be found here

Eugene Public Library staff are currently available to assist the public seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Call 541-682-5450, email libraryaskus@ci.eugene.or.us, use live chat or ?find more information at eugene-or.gov/library.
