This week is the third annual Visual Arts Week in Eugene. Events being held through Saturday.
According to the City’s Public Art Manager, Kate Ali, the goal of the event is to create a positive point of connection for the community while providing a platform for artists.
“In this moment in time, I think there’s a lot of people having trouble, sort of, finding joy injected into their life,” said Ali. “And so, visual arts week is just one of those moments we feel is important for our community to have that as part of the enrichment of our culture here in Eugene.”
This year’s events were adjusted because of the pandemic, but organizers created ways people can interact, even from home. For example, Maude Kerns Art Center is hosting workshops online. There are virtual studio and gallery tours. And you can participate in sculpture art challenges.
For those able to leave home, there is a tour with art displayed in downtown storefronts to enjoy as you walk by. More details about Visual Arts Week can be found here.
