The Oregon Coast Music Festival provides its 47th Annual Festival, July 12 through 26. The event brings live music, educational workshops, three full orchestra concerts and community sponsored events to Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston, Shore Acres, and Bandon. This beloved coastal tradition thrives thanks to generous community support.
Week 1, Begins Saturday July 12 with the Bay Area Concert Band at noon in Mingus Park. Sunday afternoon, July 13, features Jazz at the OIMB Boathouse, (tickets are nearly sold out). A free Jazz workshop for students, performers and interested public will be in Umpqua Hall 109 at SWOCC on Tuesday at 10:30. The Sugar Beets perform at the Sprague Community Theater, in Bandon, on Wednesday evening, July 16. Fantasia and the South Coast Folk Society perform Thursday evening July 17 at the Hales Center on the SWOCC Campus. Just Jensens and Tree-O provide a free afternoon at the North Bend Public Library.
Week 2 Starts Saturday July 19 at noon at Shore Acres State Park with Family Mystic. On Sunday afternoon, Stillhouse Junkies perform at the Boathouse (limited seating). The 80 member OCMA Festival Orchestra stays in town all week and will perform three concerts at Marshfield High School Auditorium. Music Director Martin Majkut conducts the Tuesday, July 22 concert “The Melting Pot” featuring with Dace Gregory, cello soloist. Adam Stern conducts Thursday Pops “Summer Travels” and features music from around the world, with Aaron Johnson, saxophone and clarinet soloist. The Redfish Music Quartet performs at the First Presbyterian Church in North Bend, on Friday evening, July 25. The Festival Finale “Four Love Scenes”, conducted by Martin Majkut Saturday, July 26 features Nancy Zhou violin soloist.
