When you sign up to show up for your writing work, you’re so much more likely to actually do it. These low-key write-ins give you the space, time, and community to make it happen.

What to expect
Come to the studio and settle in:
-Tuesdays: 9:30-9:45 am
-Sundays: 6:30-6:45 pm
Free parking is available in the parking lot (get a parking pass at the door)
Get your writing done:
-Tuesdays: 9:45-11: 45 am
-Sundays: 6:45-8:45 pm
Have a chat, connect with other writers, pack up, and head on out!

About your hosts

Jeaux Bartlett (they/them or xe/xem) is a writer and teacher living in Eugene, Oregon. Jeaux has published several books and online courses focused on personal growth and their work has appeared in the Register Guard, Lane Monthly, Rochester insider, Crossroads Chronicle, and Nature’s Wisdom amongst other publications.

Jeaux is a certified Grief Recovery Method specialist, a National Spiritualist Teacher, and a Reiki Master Teacher. Jeaux enjoys writing about overcoming loss and adversity, and learning to trust yourself again.

Jeaux is currently working on Banned in Barbados, an autofiction novel based on their middle school years at an all-girls convent school in Barbados. When they are not writing, Jeaux enjoys playing with natural dyes, knitting, and building a writing camp in the woods.

Heather McBride (she/her) is a content strategist at Adobe but has novelist aspirations. She’s been bookish since birth but got serious about her own writing when teaching composition at U of O.

Heather lives in Eugene with a constantly changing cast of grown children, a bass guitarist husband, and her anxiety ridden lab.

What can we learn from musicals, a beloved Saturday entertainment? The course explores musicals as a lens into history, a way artists in the past 100 years have grappled with the most profound challenges facing humanity in uplifting and resonant messages. Through works such as Oklahoma, Show Boat, West Side Story, Hair, Rent, Hamilton, The Color Purple, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and Into the Woods—as well as your own favorite, we examine the way serious individual and social issues are captured in catchy and poignant lyrics, and lively dance numbers. We will see clips, watch entire musicals, read scripts and lyrics, and experience the oldest form of human knowledge, when voice and instruments were developed to tell each other what we know so that we can keep going, sadder and wiser, inspired, and hopeful.

Dr. Mossberg will also workshop with the class her own latest musical, a historical correction about John Muir and his unknown wife Louie Wanda, their transformational love story, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating a musical out of recorded history and one's own imagination.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Dr. Barbara Mossberg is a Professor of Practice at the UO Clark Honors College. Over the past forty years, Dr. Mossberg has published poetry and literary and interdisciplinary studies on leadership of ecology and the human spirit, creativity and identity, resilience and sustainability in the natural and social worlds, and learning. She teaches memoir for the Thoreau Society Write Connection, Pacific Grove Public Library, John Muir High School Alum, Wild Acorns, and other groups. Her most recent memoir won the Provost's Recognition Award from the University of Oregon.

Led by volunteers with hearing loss and The Shedd Institute's LOOP OREGON committee, Sound Advice is a free, monthly gathering of peers to share knowledge and experiences with hearing loss. The group meets in a hearing looped classroom, practices using this powerful assistive listening system, and explores ADA-guaranteed rights to hearing access. Drop ins and partners welcome. Get ready to put your hands in the dirt by joining our 8-week Dig It! Intro to Gardening class series 🧑‍🌾🌱

For 8 weeks, members of LCFM and the Eugene Garden Club will be teaching you the basics of gardening, from planning to planting! Come learn how to grow your own starting this Saturday, January 17th (our first market of the season!) through March 7th.

Each class takes place in our In Season space inside the Farmers Market Pavilion, at 11:00 and 12:00, and are FREE to attend!

This series is sponsored by the Eugene Garden Club. The Eugene Garden Club was organized on April 28, 1927, and became a member of the Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs in 1929. The club was formed to stimulate the love of gardening, horticulture, and floral artistry, aid in protecting and conserving plants, trees, and birds, and promote civic beauty and community welfare.

Dream It, Be It is a career support workshop sponsored by Soroptimist International of Eugene. The workshop is for girls 14-18 years and is designed to provide girls with access to professional role models, career education, and the resources to achieve and live their dreams. The program will assist in learning about different career opportunities, setting and achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success, and moving forward after setbacks.
