Highway 58 in Oakridge Reopens After Brushfire

Oregon State Police

A utility company says a dead tree that fell on power lines appears to have caused a brush fire near Oakridge that destroyed a trailer and shut down lanes of Highway 58 for several hours before it was contained.

In a statement, Lane Electric Cooperative says, "Indications are that a dead tree fell over from outside L.E.C.'s right-of-way into the power line bring it to the ground and starting the fire. In all, it appears that 4 or 5 spans of wire between the highway and the railroad tracks were involved."
