Howard Buford Recreation Area, including the Mount Pisgah Arboretum and all surrounding trails, are closed to the public at least through Monday, following a wildfire last week that burned around 50 acres and saw hikers evacuated from the park.
Devon Ashbridge with Lane County says fire crews from the Oregon Department of Forestry – South Cascades continue to work in the park. Officials will be removing all heat and hazards caused by the fire before visitors are allowed to return to the park.
Depending on how conditions improve, Lane County Parks may be able to reopen certain trails on Tuesday. Status updates regarding access to HBRA can be found at lanecounty.org.
