Oregon Governor Kate Brown came to the fire-ravaged community of Blue River today, to see rebuilding efforts.
During a formal conference held on Cascade Street, local officials presented the governor a Holiday Farm Fire Challenge Coin, to show appreciation for her office’s help.

“I’m glad I was able to be here to learn about the efforts that all of you are making to rebuild this Blue River community in a way that is stronger, and safer, and more resilient," Gov. Brown told the audience.
"As President Biden would say, we’re working hard to build back better.”
Among the sites Brown visited was the U.S. Basketball Academy. She recently signed legislation - HB 2272 - approving it for FEMA’s direct housing mission.
17 families displaced by last fall’s Holiday Farm Fire have already been selected, and are preparing to move into the newly-constructed units.
