The University of Oregon sent an email to graduating students Tuesday announcing the addition of two in-person events to this spring’s commencement ceremonies.
On June 12th, grads can participate in a procession from Matthew Knight Arena to the Memorial Quad and then walk across a stage to accept their diplomas. For pandemic safety reasons, families and friends are not allowed at either event, but the stage procession will be live-streamed for them. The university noted the Oregon Health Authority approved the events contingent on favorable COVID-19 conditions and plans may change with, quote, “little or no notice.”
The email says graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021 will be invited to next year’s in-person ceremonies, and congratulates them for being resilient.
