Forecasters are watching a dynamic weather pattern as we anticipate snow in lower elevations on Tuesday and Wednesday.
When asked whether it will snow in the Eugene area, National Weather Service hydrologist Andy Bryant says, “It’s complicated.”
“A lot of that complication is due to our proximity to the ocean.” Says Bryant. “So, for this week in the Willamette Valley, low elevation snow is more likely north than south. So the prospects for accumulating snow in Eugene is not high.”
Bryant says the snow is more likely to stick in the foothills of the Cascades and coast range. He says forecasts as of Monday are calling for a mix of rain and snow in the South Willamette Valley. But the chances for snow to stick are better in Salem and Portland.
